Eric Carle and Leo Lionni

Found these two fine books last week on a little flea market at our nursery and wanted to share them with you. The first book is a really cute one: "Die kleine Maus sucht einen Freund" (Do You Want to Be My Friend) by Eric Carle published by Gerstenberg. Sure you know "The Very Hungry Caterpillar".

... the second one is "Sechs Krähen" by Leo Lionni, published in German by Beltz & Gelberg. The American edition "Six Crows" was first published by Alfred A. Knopf in 1988.

Just read about Leo Lionni, who was born in Holland, that he had been very successful in advertising in the United States, before he returned to Italy in the 1960s. There he began to work as a children's book author and illustrator - using a variety of collage techniques. He is the father of very famous "Frederick" and "Swimmy" and of course many more children's books: here.
