PIE BOOKS 3: Traditional Japanese Stencil Patterns

One more book published by PIE International + PIE BOOKS and maybe the most impressive of their current catalogue, a DVD with 1,600 JPEGs included. To be released in Europe in April or May.

Here is what the publisher says about it: "This is a resource book of traditional Japanese stencil patterns, called "Isekatagami”, which is said to be initially created 1000 years ago. Isekatagami and its craftsmen of today are designated as Important Intangible Cultural Properties of Japan. The patterns are still used for kimono, obi and many other Japanese fabrics. Mistukoshi-Isetan, a Japanese up-scale departmentstore chain and a collector of these precious patterns, has generously decided to open their collection to public in book form with those patterns in JPEG format for use. This book will definitely be a precious resource for textile and fashion professionals as well as graphic designers."
